He returned to Moinuddin Chishti's dargah in Ajmer and was transfixed by the dervishes he encountered there. He then returned to Hyderabad where his aged murshid foretold the day of his death. Inayat had received the highest musical honor from the Nizam of Hyderabad. He had met and studied for almost four years at the feet of his spiritual master Abu Hashim Madani. Once again his heart was broken. His murshid had come to the end of his allotted days. The palace and the poets no longer attracted him. He headed southwest.
