Inayat had received the highest musical honor from the Nizam of Hyderabad. He had met and studied for almost four years at the feet of his spiritual master Abu Hashim Madani. Once again his heart was broken. His murshid had come to the end of his allotted days. The palace and the poets no longer attracted him. He headed southwest.

He invited his brother Mahbood, and cousin Mohammed Ali to accompany him on a concert tour to the West, where continued to travel for the next 16 years, tuning souls instead of musical instruments.
